
Autism: Recognition and Treatment
1. CD 905 “Recognizing Autism”– Autism is a brain disorder, not a learning disability. There are characteristics that an autistic child exhibits that can cue parents to seek professional assistance. This CD will give the listener key signs to observe in their young child’s development. These milestones in a child’s growth are researched based and can be an indicator for recognizing problems in your child’s mental development. Early screening can make a difference in a child’s quality of life.
2. CD 906 “Types of Treatment for Autism” – Once a child has been diagnosed as autistic, there are early intervention programs that can assist the child in developing communication and language skills. This CD will inform the listener of ten different treatments that are designed to assist the autistic child’s behavioral development. There is no cure for autism but with the use of these early intervention methods, the child will improve in skills that will enhance the quality of life. The en Intervention Programs that will be explained are: Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Skills Therapy, Physical Therapy, Play Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Visually-Based Therapy, and Biomedical Therapy.
