Virginia State Superintendent We were honored to meet the Virginia State Superintendent,
2010 Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Connection Trade Show at Liberty University We exhibited at the 2010 Connection Trade Show where the theme was “Cooking Up Success”.  This was an excellent networking opportunity to meet other local business owners and share our resources with the extended Lynchburg community.  
Business, Politics, and Education The Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of allowing the community the opportunity to hear directly from our local congressmen on issues impacting our community.
Professional Development for Head Start Directors Newport News Head Start directors received leadership training at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lynchburg, Virginia.  We provide quality professional development for early childhood educators.
Parent Involvement Seminar   Educators across the state of Virginia participated in this outstanding workshop to learn new ideas and effective strategies to enhance parental involvement.
Small Business Networking   Cathy Hughes, CEO of Radio One, delivered an inspirational message to small business owners at the Minority Business Summit.  We were very fortunate to meet her.

Response to Intervention:

Our goal is to demystify Response to Intervention by collaborating with school leaders and teachers as they progress through the stages of implementation.  Our consultants can customize the professional development on this topic based on your teachers' level of understanding of RTI.  We can schedule on-site visits to help teachers design and execute a Response to Intervention action plan, effectively monitor and mangage data, and ensure that they are comfortable and competent in each stage of the Response to Intervention process:

Effective Parent Involvement Strategies:


Our consultants will work closely with your parent coordinators, teachers, and administrators to identify the current barriers of parental involvement in your school or organization. By goal setting and creating an action plan, our consultants will work with you to establish specific goals to address these barriers. Participants will understand how to do a needs assessment, progress monitoring, and evaluation of parental involvement in their school or district. ***(Optional Training on the effective use of the Parent Resource Kit)  

A. Tools for Teaching Vocabulary- K-12 Teachers will experience hands-on strategies and techniques to improve student engagement in learning vocabulary beyond the basal requirements.   D. Toolkit for Comprehension Strategies- This workshop equips K-12 teachers with the appropriate tools to lead their students to success on state standard assessments and to gain richer comprehension in all content areas.
B. Guided Reading Toolkit -Teachers in K-5 will gain an understanding of how to incorporate guided reading strategies to differentiated content subject areas and receive tools for engaging students during small group reading instruction.   E. Toolkit for Parents- This vocabulary workshop will equip parents with tools to assist their child(ren) in learning new vocabulary: word meaning and word relationships will be explored. This "make-it, take-it" workshop will provide modeled demonstrations for using items in the home to increase students' knowledge of language skills (PreK-5).
C. Literacy Stations' Toolkit -Teachers in K-5 will experience hands-on training on how to prepare their class for differentiated learning stations in writing and in the five components of reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension).   F. Phonics Toolkit -This "make-it, take-it" workshop for teachers will provide tools for teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, and decoding strategies that can be used in small group instruction, as well as, literacy stations for PreK-5 grade students.

Onsite Literacy Coaching

We will provide reading specialists / literacy coaches and teachers with the additional support needed to implement various instructional programs and practices. Our consultants will help the coach provide essential leadership for a school's entire literacy program and demonstrate how to supervise long-term staff development processes that support both the development and implementation of the literacy program over months and years.   Our consultants will work with literacy coaches on effective strategies for: pre-conferences, in-class observations, debriefing, and follow-through.    The consultants will work closely with the teachers and coaches to:

This workshop will give participants step-by-step examples of how to create an effective school improvement plan and how to prepare for this process in your school.
